Ty (Dark Life) – Hero’s Journey

The Mundane World

In the future, Ty lives on the sea floor with his mom, dad, and sister, Zoe. They have massive kelp fields in which hundreds of fish swim.

The Call To Adventure

The call to adventure starts for Ty and Gemma is when the outlaws strike the Peavey’s house, a nearby friend and neighbor of Ty’s family. When Ty goes over to restore the house without his family he sees the head outlaw, Shade, and gets captured by him.  For some odd reason Shade lets Ty go and run away.

Crossing the Threshold

Ty met a girl named Gemma and they went into the Saloon to look for Gemma’s brother. Instead they came face to face with Shade.

The Path of Trials

Shade and the Seablite gang attacked Ty’s family’s homestead. Shade went into their house and broke one of Ty’s ribs. Ty told his sister, Zoe, to shock Shade (Zoe has special shocking powers), but instead, she shocked the puddle that Shade and Ty were both in, and they were both shocked. When Ty was at the service deck with Shade, Ty found out that Shade was Gemma’s brother. Then Ty’s parents, sister, and a lot of his neighbors came to the service deck where Ty, Shade, and Gemma were. All of the neighbors tried to kill Shade but Ty tried to stop them. Shade escaped from the service deck. The service deck was going to lock down in just a few minutes so Doc sucked in the last pack of liquigen and tried to swim from the service deck up to the surface. That is when everyone realized that Doc was evil. The only way that everyone else could get to the surface safely was to ride on dolphins. When the dolphins started to swim up to the surface, Doc grabbed onto Gemma’s foot and pulled her off the dolphin. Since Gemma couldn’t swim, Ty went back down to get her. When he grabbed hold of her, he took her to the surface and swam to shore. Doc sank to the ocean floor and drowned. Gemma was unconscious so Ty tried to do mouth-to-mouth. When she didn’t wake up, everyone thought she was dead except for Ty. Ty told Zoe to shock Gemma. When Gemma still didn’t wake up after Zoe shocked her twice, Ty told Zoe to shock her one more time. That time Gemma did wake up and everyone was happy that she was alive.

The Master of Two Worlds

In the end, Ty taught Gemma how to swim. Ty’s parents gave him the freedom to go where he wanted to go. Ty and Gemma became girlfriend and boyfriend.
